Achieving “Me”

in Faith, May 22, 2018

Ladies and Gents! Hope you’re having an extraordinary week. It has been such a crazy week for me, full of deadlines and new projects. But I am always grateful to be able to sit down with a nice cup of coffee and write about what I’ve been pondering on this week. Today I want to talk about “Achieving Me”. I was once asked, “hey so what are you going to do, now that you aren’t working?” And I said, “I am going to achieve me.” Now this was about two years ago, and I for sure didn’t know what I meant by this statement. But today I have a little more insight on what this means to me, and as I uncover this topic I want you to join me on Achieving Me.

Let’s dive in!

What does Achieving Me look like?

Everyone has a me version of themselves that they envision being. Things you’d wish you did, but just don’t have the courage to do so. Now, I am not talking about people who lack talent to sing and wish they could. I am talking about dreams you have that you lack the courage to follow through with because of fear or other factors. For example, what do you dream about? What are the things that keep you up at night and will have regretted if you never did them? Do you dream about starting a business? Would you put a talent to good use that has been idle for years? For years I loved writing and creating thought provoking content. But I lacked the will to achieve the me I wanted to be, the me I knew I could be. The me I was created to be.  But I was so busy people pleasing, being whoever anyone else thought I should be that I lived my life striving to be someone I wasn’t and ALWAYS came up short of it.

Who Are You?

Like really who are you? What do you love? Why be afraid of saying you love it for fear of judgement? God gave us each unique individual talents, no one is like you. Even twins have unique personalities that separate one from the other. Being true to who you are is so important. We cannot, and I repeat we cannot spend our entire lives pleasing someone else and suppressing who we are meant to be. What are your likes and dislikes? If you can define what your likes are, you can often discern what God created you to be. For example I enjoy writing and speaking life into people. But, I discovered this through being told countless of times, “Alejandra tu si Habla” which is Spanish for, “Alejandra you talk too much.” So what people criticized me for all of my life was the very thing I was created for. The thing was that I misused my talent and now I use it to honor my God. Check out what the psalmist says in Psalm 139: 14-17 says,

For you created my inmost being;

you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

your works are wonderful,

I know that full well.

My frame was not hidden from you

 when I was made in the secret place,

 when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.

Your eyes saw my unformed body;

all the days ordained for me were written in your book

before one of them came to be.

How precious to me are your thoughts, God!

How vast is the sum of them!

You guys, God made us in the secret place. Secret, because only you and Him know the things He put in your heart to do. Those likes can easily point you towards your purpose. He says that you were woven together, knitted together in your mother’s womb. No one else was there but you and God when He was putting you together. So then, no one else should have a say in who you should be, but you and God. Do what you wanna do! Go ahead, do it! Be creative! Be innovative! Market you and be your number 1 fan! You were created beautifully and are wonderfully made!

Unique + Wonderfully Made= Trail Blazers

If you were created uniquely and wonderfully made, which you were because the bible says so, then this means you have the road map to be a trailblazer. It means, that you and no one but you knows this road map. Hello! You are the creator of the road map! Each of us were created to make a mark in history and it is up to us to do it. Youdictionary.com defines trailblazing as “discovering new outdoor trails, or marking outdoor paths to communicate information about the trail. An example of trailblazing is finding a new way to get across the top of the mountain.” This already sounds like a scary thing to do and it probably is. It’s discovering who you are, to reach that very unique mountain of success called YOU. Because the best success you’ll have is fulfilling God’s purpose for your life.

Doing it Afraid

What is that specific trail that you need to blaze? I know I’m not the only one who wakes up in the middle of night with an idea YOU KNOW you should pursue but are too afraid to do it. If that is you, then my suggestion to you is that you DO IT afraid. What would you do, if fear wasn’t stopping you? If you’re like me, when someone asked me this question I literally spilled out the words “I would achieve me.” I would dare to do all the things that I once dreamed of doing. Before I attempted achieving me, I had to get rid of all fear and even when there was some fear left, I did it afraid. I would do it and I’m still doing it afraid. If fear can’t stop me, then it must be me stopping me. And so I chose to not be my worst enemy, but instead my biggest supporter. I am choosing achieving me, even if I am afraid.

Think YOU into Existence

Be intentional about thinking about you. I am not telling you to be conceded; I am asking you to think carefully about WHAT you think about you. The Bible states in Proverbs 23:7

“As a man thinks in his heart, so is he”

So if you think good thoughts about you then you will become those good thoughts. For so many years I reflected on the negative words I heard spoken of me, rather than reflecting on what the Bible declares about me. Believe it or not, this can be a huge factor as to why you won’t dare to fulfill who God created you to be. The title of this portion is to think YOU into existence. And that’s because God’s truth says in Romans 4:17 God calls those things that aren’t as though they were. He is the God that calls nothings into somethings. And if God creates greatness then this means we are pretty great in Him. Think good thoughts about you, it will help you become who God created you to be. He didn’t call us to be Debbie downers. He called us to be creators like Him, and innovative people with dreams farther than what the eye can see. He called us to achieve that good plan He has for us, and we must remember that He is the one that will bring to completion the good work He began in us. We just have to allow Him to do it!

Next week, I want to continue on this topic. There is one more thing that I believe stops us from achieving the true version of ourselves we were created to be.

P.S You’ll notice that at the bottom of each blog I will write, Ebenezer. It means “God has brought me this far”. It reminds me that I am here because of HIM! And now you’ll know this too.

Ebenezer!

Till Next Week,
