Vision (2019)

in Faith, Family, Lifestyle, December 26, 2018

Hello there! Merry Christmas you guys!!! I pray you are all with family and friends surrounded by the table and eating lots of yummy food. This is tashgal here bringing you the latest thoughts on how God has been working in my life. God has a way of making us think and getting us in a quiet place. I have been a quiet place with the Lord since I came to Texas. I’ve pondered on who I am, and what 2018 was for me, still in awe of how God has showed himself in our lives during this year. According to some research my husband and I did for the year 2018. The number eight signifies new beginnings, new order, and regeneration. Well that was certainly true for us. We moved to Texas and  it was and is certainly a new beginning for us. Where am I going with all of this? I want both you and I to be intentional about the new year. Have a vision for where you are going and how you will get there. Here’s how.

Write the Vision Down

Be intentional, Habakkuk 2:2 states

Then the LORD answered me: “Write down this vision and clearly inscribe it on tablets, so that a herald may run with it. 3For the vision awaits an appointed time; it testifies of the end, and will not lie. Though it lingers, wait for it, since it will surely come and not delay.”

What are your visions, dreams? Where do you want to go? What would your life look like if it was about to you? Now I don’t mean things like “I would be a millionaire.” I mean what’s a dream you would like to fulfill? And what steps would you need to take to get there? What are some things that you would like the Lord to help you change? Would you like to be more disciplined? Would you like to impact the masses with your testimony? What would life look like next year for you? For me and my husband we wanted to be more disciplined, we wanted to get more into God’s word. And we wanted to be people of character and integrity. We wanted to be trees planted by streams of water, God’s living water. Write down your vision for 2019. Don’t wait for life to happen to you. Happen to life. Be intentional. Write it down.

A Vision Board?

David and I didn’t make a vision board per say. We actually sat down about two hours before the clock striked 12am on December 31st of 2017. We prayed and spend some time in worship, and afterwards we felt led to sit down and just write in the privacy of our home because He who sees you in private (God) will reward you publicly the bible states. We wrote our desires, our wants, and our visions for the future individually. We each chose a focus word for ourselves and concluded that both focus words should be used as our focus words for our family as well. And then we came together, and we spoke about the vision for our family and where we wanted to go.  We ended the night with praying and receiving 2018 in worship. Now this is how we did it. We later typed our vision down on resume paper (because everything must look pretty to me.) And I hung it in our home as the vision for our home. After doing this I must say everything on that vision statement came to pass. Everything. We suffered, we cried, we went through some really tough times, but the hand of God was over us the entire time. Spend sometime today pondering if you were to have a vision board/statement what would you put on it? What would your focus word for 2019 be? You do not need to do it the way I did. Single or married we need to be intentional as to where we are going.

What happens after we write it down?

so that a herald may run with it.

This verse is part two of Habakkuk 2:2. After we write down the vision the verse states a herald may run with it. Run where? LOL! Merriam-Webster’s dictionary states that a herald is an official messenger. An official messenger of God. Isn’t that awesome, we write the vision down and a messenger of God will deliver our message to him. Maybe it sounds corny, or even silly to be soooooo intentional but if you’ve never done this and you have followed me for a while then you know that this blog was born out of that vision board from 2017. When we write down our goals and dreams and are intentional about where we are going, we are telling God that we are serious about where we are going. And what I love about God is that he always meets you half way. After doing this in 2017 for the first time I will never stop doing this God willing. I can’t tell you that anything that was accomplished I did on my own strength. I didn’t. It was all him!

I enjoy writing about this you guys. It did wonders for me and it really brought me through some dark times and kept me holding on when I found no strength in me. I knew there was a vision and so during the tough times it gave me hope that I was going some where and that it wasn’t over until God says it is! Stay tuned for next week’s part two of 2019 blog.
